Per commentare il mistero dell’Ascensione oggi, rimando ad un commento non mio, ma di un monaco del monastero di Bose, che usando testi della tradizione teologica dell’Oriente e dell’Occidente cristiano, presenta bene il mistero che oggi celebriamo.

Ascolta “O claps your hands” di Ralph Vaughan Williams, in cui la potenza del mistero dell’Ascensione viene espressa in un modo musicale tipicamente british. Il testo, preso dalla versione della King James del salmo 47, così recita:
1 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
2 For the Lord most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.
5 God is gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.
8 God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.
